There are organizations (Register of Exercise Professional's, National Register of Personal Trainers etc.) that make their profits solely from registering fitness professionals for people to choose. Does personal trainer registering mean the trainer is a proper expert? – NO. It simply means the trainer matches minimal qualification requirements, which guarantees you an average quality. If average is what you're after this is a good method to choose your personal trainer.

Few tips for those who seek higher personal training standards:

  • Qualifications.

Obviously official, relevant qualification is a must for any personal trainer. A degree in sports science or/and specialized qualifications is a big bonus ensuring high standard.

  • Experience.

Anyone who has a profession, knows how much there is gained through actual practice – knowledge from studies gets validated and even deepened further more. Theory itself is useless if there is a lack of ability applying it to real life.

  • Specialization.

Know what you want from your personal trainer and look for a specialist to get the precise service. Any good personal trainer should have a field of specialty that comes from a specific education and/or training/competing experience. Trainers who claim to be experts in all sort of training may prove to have only shallow knowledge and experience in what you need to do in order to achieve your goals.

When next time you look for a personal trainer pay attention to how many of  trainers advertising fit the requirements above – personal trainers who don't have advanced education, extensive experience and expertise field – are NO GOOD. After such filter the zillion shrinks down to much more moderate numbers.
